Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) Ages 5-9 Children’s Liturgy of the Word (“CLOW”) is offered for children ages 5 through 9 at the 9:30 AM Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church and at the 10:30 Mass at St. Joseph Church every Sunday. This is an Archdiocesan-approved program to give younger children the opportunity to hear and discuss Sunday’s readings at their level.
Prior to first Reading, the celebrant of the Mass invites the children forward to the steps of the Sanctuary and blesses them. The CLOW leader and an assistant lead the children to the liturgical space set up for this purpose. The children are encouraged to participate in discussing the readings and/or the Gospel and sing the Alleluia, and to request prayers for their special intentions. Following the liturgy of the word, the children return to their parents for the remainder of the Mass. VIRTUS Training is required for all who are involved in this ministry. Adults or teens are able to participate as leaders and assistants in this ministry.
