We worship in Wilmette, but what we do in our worship fixes our eyes on the world.
In 2010, our parish answered the call to provide earthquake relief efforts and visits to Port Au Prince, Haiti. Since then, relationships that began amidst emergency relief efforts have turned into a thriving partnership with our sharing parish in Haiti, Immaculee Conception. More than 50 parishioners have made the trip to spend time with members of our sharing parish, and the resources provided by Saints JFX have strengthened both Immaculee Conception and the economy of its people. We have supported projects including providing a new water well, a gristmill, sewing machines, and breadfruit trees. Most recently, our focus has turned to education. In September 2019, a group of long-time Immaculee Conception supporters, Saints JFX parishioners, and teachers travelled to Haiti for the dedication of a new school. We were honored to witness this celebration and to feel the excitement for the opportunities this school would bring to its students. As we move forward, education remains our focus. There is more work to be done and more projects to complete, and our partnership is stronger than ever. The parish of Immaculee Conception has Saints Joseph and Francis Xavier Parish in their prayers as we continue to keep them in ours, every day.
