Pastoral Care at Saints JFX embodies a commitment by dedicated volunteers to the spiritual and emotional wellbeing of our fellow parishioners. By visiting or assisting members of the parish community who are experiencing any of life’s difficulties due to age, illness, loneliness or loss, Saints JFX Pastoral Care volunteers focus on healing, reconciling, guiding and sustaining.
Our Pastoral Care Ministries
Ministry of Care
When age or illness keeps a person home, they need spiritual companionship more than ever. At Saints JFX, our Ministers of Care make sure that no one needs to be separated from our community.
Every week, the women and men who serve in our Ministry of Care visit those who are homebound, in hospitals, or in care facilities. They bring holy Communion and the prayers of our community. Our ministers pray with the homebound and share daily Scripture readings and parish news. They are a vital link between the sick members of our parish and those outside, reminding those who are sick or homebound that they are a vital, irreplaceable part of our loving community. Grieving is hard. We want to make the funeral process as easy as possible. In tender and difficult moments, our Bereavement Team walks alongside people who have experienced a loss to make sure that the funeral process is both simple and healing.
When we receive notice that someone has died, the Bereavement Ministry accompanies family members as they navigate the first stages of grief following the death of a loved one. A member of our team meets with the family to coordinate funeral services at one of our two campuses, walking families through the process of selecting readings, music, and a presider for the funeral or memorial service. We also provide a helpful, comforting presence on the day of the service to help families focus on the important work of remembering their loved one.
