PAPER SHREDDING EVENT SPONSORED BY NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, SAT JUNE 26, 1:30-4PM IN THE ST. JOSEPH CHURCH PARKING LOT (OFF LAKE AVE).
Let’s work together to make New Trier Township green, by recycling unwanted paper at our free shredding event. In order to serve many, township residents can recycle up to (2) small cartons (16.25" x 12.5" x 10.5") or two, medium (8 gallon) trash bags per vehicle.
Please remove binders, rubber bands, plastic page protectors, plastic bags, plastic file tabs, CDs and other hard items.
Staff and volunteers will wear masks and remove paper from the trunk or hatchback of your vehicle. A professional shredding company will be on-site to shred documents immediately. Please wear a mask so we can continue our fight against the Coronavirus.

Pope Francis announced the year of "St. Joseph" in honor of the 150 year anniversary of the Saint's proclamation as the patron of the Universal Church. The year begins Dec 8th, 2020 and ends Dec 8, 2021, according to a decree by the Pope. The decree states that Pope Francis established a "year of St. Joseph" so that every member of the faithful, following the Saint's example, may strengthen their life of faith daily in the complete fulfillment of God's will.
During the month of May, we will pray the Rosary every evening at 7:00 pm in our Marian garden, behind St. Joseph School. Park in the school parking lot and walk to the back of the school, via the alley between the convent and school building. The garden is to your left.
This May brings another unique effort to bond together as people of faith and to offer our prayers for the healing of our brothers and sisters and an end to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please join us in prayer as we ask for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
This Friday, 90 years after that historic day, we will celebrate Father Ed Harnett’s birthday, and we will thank God for the gift of his life.
We invite you to send Fr. Harnett a card with your well wishes. You can drop your card at the SFX parish office (524 Ninth Street) or the SJ rectory (1747 Lake), and we will make sure he gets them. Our goal is to have him receive 90 cards on his 90th.
Father Harnett has been here since his mid-fifties, and he was in Wilmette as an associate pastor as a young priest. Although Father Harnett hails from Chicago’s West Side, the people of Saints JFX have become his family and Wilmette is his home.
Join us this Friday in wishing a great man of faith, who has dedicated almost half of his life to the spiritual welfare of the people of Wilmette, a very happy 90th birthday!
